TV presenter Miquita Oliver is reportedly facing bankruptcy after failing to pay a £175,000 tax bill.

A statement from accountants Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery claims that the HMRC has petitioned for the 27-year-old to be declared bankrupt as a result of unpaid taxes. "Due to the fact this amount had not been collected by the due date set by HMRC a bankruptcy order was issued to Miss Oliver in respect to the mentioned amount on 11 November 2011," the statement continued.

If the former Popworld presenter does indeed file for bankruptcy, she certainly won't be alone. Here we look at 10 other famous types who managed to squander the lot. Thankfully for some, they managed to make it all back again. Well most of it, anyway.

She should have taken a leaf out of the British celebritys tax dodgers scam,Reside +register in the states, you'll be amazed at the amount of those that do. The stones I understand havent paid tax in this country since about 1965,having registered in France!

The HMRC is littered with those people who draw fat salaries but cannot carry out simple caculation and that was why they failed in the cases they take to court.

All Miquita Oliver need to do is to drag the HMRC to court and let the court know that she cannot caculate or literate, then she stands being discharged and aquitted. Go for it. If they kick you do not fall and take it, kick them back.

Celebrities are human and not invisible from financial ruining. In the circumstance they do need Jesus Christ in their lives to provide them with an everlasting Joy that money does not bring.

We all must start to look at our finance strictly rather than pretending. UK is currently going the France and Greece way but continue to cover up until it burst on our faces. In order to cure this economic problems would be when those in authority become honest to the people and tell them right in their facse that there are no other pot of money else.

The problem we live in country thats built up off piracy" and that is still going on' its like a runaway train with no brakes and world is watching" unfortunately they dont know how to stop or slow it down because governments are too caught up in the mess they've created whilst trying to convince us with their political bull...t" by way of quantify to us of their excistance'... like some shining knight coming to rescue us from disaster....huh"... only thing is they are the ones whom have created the disaster' and the pressure is on".. and guess what we have to pay for their mistakes .....it's a mockery of morality in which innocent hard working people in most cases are turned into criminals by default of government raychem ..... quantification"....just baffle with bull.....give's you wings

the workig poor class people of this country is whom keep the country afloat whilst the government, the super rich and banker think of new ways to extract more money and more and more out us the " so they walk around looking down their noses at us!!

                                                HUH"

rediculous how prices and rates keep going up and up huh" it like some sort of culling system with no preferences ......where is the joy??

I have no symphathy with either celeb's or ordinary people who cannot make

provision to pay their taxes from the either weekly or monthly wages.

All persons should have the tax & NI deducted from their wages at source, then there would not be a problem.

They would have the net wages, and have to manage on it, the same as everyone else in the country.

Nearly all companies that go bust, it is the tax etc that is not paid, no wonder the country is in a financial mess.

Celeb's are the worst.

I agree with choviani, the vulgarity of the wealth of some is abhorrent. When millions of people are starving and riddled with disease, when parents have to organise charity events just to send their a child for an operation to save their life as they have no money and the NHS wont / or cant do it. I read somewhere that 98% of the worlds wealth is owned by only 2% of the worlds population. it's a sick warped world when you really think about it,. It's sickening that the top end earners in finance and sport have clauses in their contracts that state no one can come into the company/football club and earn more than they do;" LOL" what the hell is that about? arrogant greedy ???????  How many yachts, cars, villas, islands, homes, aeroplanes etc do they need? I don't know; but I think there are a few million kids who would really appreciate a bowl of rice every now and again.

I've no sympathy for these people ...BUT....miquita is still relatively young and obviously a tax bill for £175,00 had to be amassed over a number of years.didn't her mum/dad/BFF lily allen give her some advice about this....?

real buffons are the ones who end up oweing £13 million....£13 MILLION....?kim basinger BUYING AN ENTIRE TOWN...?apparantly MC hammer had 6 pink roll royces and an entourage of 100 people...what for...?

there is  a well known T.V chef who has been bankrupt 6 times,he has diddled so many suppliers it's not even funny.every time it happens he closes his restaurant for a few weeks, tells the staff to take a break and re-opens under a different company name.....while driving around soho (london) in his Ferrari as this is going on.

so don't be too hard on miss oliver as there are worse people in the world than her...A LOT WORSE!!!

I have experienced bankruptcy and I wouldn't wish it on anyone; as long of course, it doesn't involve theft from others and outright greed. It's not just outward impressions of wealth; the money and lifestyle, I found it was my loss of self worth; the sense of failure and its concomitant stigmatism. This in turn leads to self doubt, depression and a sharpe drop in ones dignity: you can feel very alone. Every penny you earn is taxed to the hilt, you some times wonder how some get beyond the the choke hold of the tax-man by making massive profits (Employing sharp accountants, corporate lawyers?). There is also the English disease of people getting a twisted sense of joy from another's downfall; I suppose it makes them feel better about their own mediocrity, or lack of progression in life; who knows?. I can't speak for the massive wealth and subsequent loss of Mr Tyson and the like, this kind of wealth is beyond my ken. I do find it frustrating when I hear of this type of massive wealth loss though, that's due to excessive spending and the wasting of money. I had, like many others, to work very hard for modest rewards, at times the only thing I had was the sense of pride in owning my own business. In-spite of what some  say, it is not always the fault of the business owner as to why a business fails.

to one who knows what its like to have lot of money its not all that you  think when you get it  first you have all these people who know youve got it then you have the tax man sending you a letter knowing youve got it  350.000 in tax i paid last year thats 350.000 of my hard earned money going to the goverment  lot of money just writting that cheque out to them is hard makes me sick just thinking about it  . keeping hold of it is the hard part every one has got there hands out  every bill is bigger from heating to petrol you want that big house then the heating bill is bigger you  want that fast car petrol is more cos it eats the fuel , which you read in the press there are lot going bankrupt if you  dont think about making certain amount every year and youv got money then 9/10 your going to go bankrupt  these lottery winners 45 million tax free well thats a dream really

Once they start earning huge money they lose sight of reality. It's ridiculous that any of them should owe millions for goodness sake there are people starving in the world living in terrible conditions, and they just spend money like it's going out of style. Doesn't it ever occur to them that maybe toning down their extravagant lifestyles down and actually budgeting for a change would be a good idea?
Does Mike Tyson need his tigers, and huge mansion? Did Basinger really need to buy a town??

(on Oliver)
I think we all know where her money went.
Most of it up her nose.
I used to say whenever she was on TV "God shes starting to look ill. Also her ego began to soar and it wasn't from mixing it up with pop acts such as JLS that's for sure lol. No, it obvious how she spent her time in London and outside of the studio and where possibly hundreds of thousands of pounds vanished to.
Shameful.

Mike Tyson however, I have the utmost respect for. At least he worked at an amazing career and can still be called 'champ'. He remains one of the best heavyweight boxers who ever lived, a Hall of Famer and you can't take any of that from him. Money shouldn't be a thing to him.
