Like many on the list, Minister for Trade Lord Stephen Green has a strong CV. Like many on the list, he's been hurt by his association with a scandal hit bank. He's a former chairman of HSBC you see, which was found to have laundered drug money while he was in charge.
That's not the kind of thing that helps your chances, so Lord Green must also be considered an outsider for the governor post.

Please - Not Lord Turner!
He was in charge of the FSA when the Banks went Bust and responsible for their conduct, regulation etc. Why was he not sacked for not doing his job? Why did he not see what the banks were doing ie PPI miss selling, LIBOR fixing etc?
"he did gain political capital by criticising certain actions of the big banks". - AFTER THE EVENT - when they were found out!!
How can this man even be a candidate? He should be fined and barred from ever holding a job in finance.

Why replace Mervyn King ?? Get rid of the post and at least save the bank his £300k salary, He has not preformed very well over the past 10 years...........

Don't they have anyone capable in the Bank of England at the moment as the way i see it outsider would have to be trained to do the job and of course have to get new strings fitted so that the puppeteers in the government can pull his strings like the have been doing with Mervyn for the past few years
