Signing up to an annual direct debit payment plan from your energy supplier is supposed to help prevent bill shock as your payments are spread equally throughout the year. But it might not work like that...
Goldman Sachs Asset Management chairman Jim O’Neill
Last but by no means least we have Goldman Sachs Asset Management chairman Jim O'Neill. The problem with O-Neill is right there in the job title: his affiliation to a bank that the public, rightly or wrongly, most associate with much of the greed in the financial sector in recent years.
Should he get the role, he'll no doubt be good for a soundbite. When asked about the governor role, the ardent Manchester United fan is reported to have replied: "The Treasury opposition leader Ed Balls has been quoted in the media as saying, given the additional responsibilities the Bank of England are getting, only super humans should apply. In that regard it seems to me Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the few people alive who would be capable of fulfilling these requirements."
