Maternity leave and pay
If you are pregnant or have recently given birth you have a number of rights at work.
Adoptive parents leave and pay
Whether you are adopting a child from within the UK or abroad you may be entitled to adoption leave and pay. However, the rules are slightly different if you are adopting a child from overseas.
Paternity leave and pay
Fathers who qualify for paternity leave can take time off to be with their new child and offer support to the mother when the child arrives. You can choose whether to take one or two consecutive weeks’ paternity leave (not odd days).
Overseas adoption
Employees are entitled to take paid leave when they adopt a child from overseas.
